THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT AND THE DIFFERENT COLOURS ILLUMINATING THE BODY.

Caller: During the Dharma Convention in Hong Kong, a fellow Buddhist friend there shared a photo taken live at the venue. The photo taken showed many different colours that were radiating from all the Buddhist practitioners’ bodies. Some were white, yellow, blue, and pink, and several practitioners’ bodies were emitting a bright light. The spot where you, Master Lu, were sitting, gave off an immense, vast golden light. Many fellow Buddhist friends were illuminated by white light in particular, with pink light as the one following. May I ask you, Master Lu, does the colour of this light indicate the level of spiritual development of the person, and that’s why there are different colours for different people? 

Master Lu: This is true. White light is normal, it shows that the person practise Buddhism well, being very clean. For yellow and golden light, the person has great merits and virtues. For blue light, it means the person is very self-disciplined but doesn’t introduce Buddhism to others. 

Caller: We don’t know which level of spiritual development we are currently at, and, thus, which kind of light we illuminate…

Master Lu: You should know which level of spiritual development you are at. A good child does not scold others but a bad child will; a good child will not take advantage of others every day but a bad child will. How could you not know whether you are a good or a bad person? 

Caller: That means the colour of the light emanating from our bodies would change as the level of spiritual development increases. 

Master Lu: Of course, the light represents your enhancement in spiritual development and cultivation. It would continuously change the halo surrounding you. 

Caller: So, we must practise Buddhism diligently in order to give off the kind of light that Bodhisattva has, which is the best. 

Master Lu: That is correct.
